Fr. Gerry Kaggwa will be here June 27 and 28 to speak about the Diocesan Missionary cooperation weekend and ask for support through  a 2nd collection.   Father Gerry (former Parochial Vicar here at St. Bridget) is Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena in Clarksville, St. Paschal Baylon in South Boston, and Church of the Good Shepherd in South Hill. The distance between parishes is approximately 50 miles. The three cluster parishes are all mission parishes located in areas of Virginia that do not have much industry and have been hit hard by the economic downturn. Newly ordained Father Daniel Cogut will be in residence in our rectory during July. Father Danny will be assisting with Masses and confessions, hospital and assisted living visits. In August Father Danny will go to his first assignment as a priest, to be parochial vicar at the newly clustered Richmond parishes of St. Patrick. St. Peter and St. John. Feast Day Mass for St. Josemaria , the Founder of Opus Dei, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Richmond A special Mass of the Feast Day of St. Josemaria Escriva, the Founder of Opus Dei, will be celebrated Friday evening, June 19, at 7:00 at St. Bridget Catholic Church.  The Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Lawrence Kutz, a priest of the Prelature of Opus Dei.  Confessions will be available from 2 to 5 pm and 6:00 to 6:45 pm.  A reception will follow the Mass.  All are welcome!

Announcing Armstrong Academy  A new human concerns initiative supported by the Living Our Mission Diocesan campaign.  Two thirds of the freshmen coming into Armstrong High School in the East end of Richmond are two to three grade levels below where they should be. The academy is seeking to get everyone up to grade level by the time they are sophomores. The Academy will be heavily reliant on volunteers and mentors and our hope is YOU will feel called by this good work to help out. Look for more info in the coming weeks and months. Saints and Sinners 11th Annual Dinner - The Great American Picnic! The St. Bridget Saints and Sinners invite you to a Great American Picnic!  Grilled burgers, dogs, baked beans, fruit salad, and all the fixin’s.  And, homemade apple pie with ice cream for dessert!  Yum!
