Diocese of Richmond, Office of the Bishop July 30, 2018 To the Clergy and Faithful of the Diocese: Many of you have read the recent announcement and decision by our Holy Father, Pope Francis, to accept the resignation of the former Archbishop of Washington, Theodore E. McCarrick, from the College of Cardinals. Since the initial allegation of child sexual abuse was substantiated and made public in June by the Archdiocese of New York, more allegations have been brought forward that are deeply troubling, gut-wrenching and which rip at the heart and the trust within the Catholic Church. I recognize our Catholic fai...

Assumption, Virgin, Mary
In 2017, over 120 children and over 50 volunteers had a great time participating in Vacation Bible School. After a year’s hiatus, we are eager once again to host VBS in the summer of 2019. For such an endeavor to be possible the parish needs a team of ten committed persons to serve on a planning committee and to help execute the plan. The commitment will require regular meetings, on at least a monthly basis, throughout the year from September through the end of June, and then the presence of committee members on site (perhaps in shifts) for the summer week during which Vacation Bible School i...

The Faith Formation Office heartily thanks Nicole Brenner, Clyde Bowie, Pat Rollins, Ron Campbell, and Elizabeth Angeli, for having stepped forward to be members of this year’s RCIA team. These generous people  will accompany our RCIA candidates and putative catechumens through the exciting process of exploring Christianity according to Roman Catholic teaching and tradition; entering  into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, having been baptized in another Christian denomination;  or seeking baptism and full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, having never previously been baptized.&nbs...

Beginning in January 2019, Saint Bridget Parish will be moving to a quarterly Baptismal preparation schedule that will allow greater opportunities for fellowship and faith sharing among our families of newly born infants and greater exposure to parish life than our preparation has had to date. We are requesting that at least sixteen couples and/or interested individuals (a numbers sufficient to comprise a team for each of our four quarterly sessions) step forward and help us (a) to stimulate small group discussion at break-out sessions following the  large group presentations at those meetings and (b) to share th...

Ministry Matters Invitation

Posted on July 05, 2018 in: General News

Liturgy is the most essential work we do at Saint Bridget, as the Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith.  We are blessed to have so many liturgies at St. Bridget every weekend.  Yet these cannot take place without the help of lay ministers to greet the Assembly, proclaim the Word, and serve the Eucharist.   By virtue of our Baptism, each of us is called to serve. Everyone who is baptized has Christ’s imprint and therefore is worthy of being a Liturgy Minister, whether as an Usher, Lector or Eucharistic Minister. How might you answer the call? Please join us for Part 1 of Ministry M...
