We will begin a Novena for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 6th.
A Novena is nine days of prayer for special need or intention. The Assumption is an important feast in the Church. It instructs us on one of the important Marian Dogmas and it is an important feast to honor the Blessed Virgin. The Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated every year on August 15th. This feast commemorates the assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, body and soul, into Heaven. It is an important Marian feast, and a Holy Day of Obligation.
Let us prepare for the fest of the Assumption by praying a Novena to ask for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
