Dear Parishioners,
We have been blessed to have Fr. O’Reilly serving at St. Bridget these last two years. He will be moving to his next parish at the end of June. On behalf of the parish, I extend my thanks to him for all that he has done. Because I will be the only priest assigned to St. Bridget, we will need to make some adjustments to our schedule. Priests are limited to celebrating no more than three Masses on Sundays.
Beginning July 1st, we will no longer have the Sunday evening Mass at 5:30pm, nor the Monday morning Mass at 8am. We will reduce the Saturday morning Masses so that we only celebrate the First Saturday of each month. We will also reduce our Tuesday evening reconciliation/adoration to one hour (5:30pm-6:30pm). St. Bridget has been providing a priest for the campus Mass at the University of Richmond. The office of campus ministry will make other arrangements so that we can celebrate three Sunday Masses at our parish.
While we do not have another priest moving in, we do see signs of hopefulness in the presence of two seminarians who will be with us. You’ll be seeing Deacon Chris Weyer and Seminarian Scott Campolongo assisting in various ways around the parish. Please support these men as they continue their formation, and pray for vocations.
God Bless,
Father Ken
