Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop on suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immedate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don't need any formal traning to attend the workshop. ASIST can be learned by anyone.
The workshop is sponsored by the Diocese of Richmond and led by the Viginia Department of Behavioral Services. It will be held on November 3rd and 4th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Diocese of Richmond Pastoral Center - 7800 Carousel Ln, Richmond, VA 23294. Lunch will be provided each day.
