Promoting the Dignity of God-Given Life from the Moment of Conception by Walking with Moms in Need

Women in crisis pregnancies often have nowhere to go for shelter, support and guidance. For many women, the availability of a safe, caring home, where they can bring their babies to term and get on their feet, is all that they need to decide against having an abortion. Maternity homes play an essential role among many pro-life initiatives, offering housing, education and support for just these women. Mary's Choice RVA (MCRVA) is a Catholic 501(c)3 organization that seeks to fill that need in the Greater Richmond area.

Founded in 2019 by Richmond-area Catholic pro-life activist Maureen Nwoye, MCRVA will not just be a residence, but a life-skills program, offering women in crisis pregnancies a new beginning. Designed to promote self sufficiency, our program helps mothers work steadily toward independent living and the integration of their young families back into the community. To foster healthy lifestyles and positive self image, MCRVA residents will live in community, and receive not only room and board, but assistance with education and job placement, as well as the mental health, parenting and financial education resources they need to become effective and independent mothers.

Mary's Choice RVA has been approved by the Catholic Diocese of  Richmond, and is the proud and grateful recipient of a Respect Life grant from the Diocese as well. But in order to continue our work, we need monetary donations (especially monthly sponsorships), volunteers, and most of all prayer! At this time, we are asking for a generous donor to donate a house, so we can begin settling our first residents right away. Can you or someone you know help us locate a donated permanent home?

To Get Involved:

For more information, see the MCRVA website at http://maryschoicerva.org. To help, please email helpmaryschoicerva@gmail.com, or call Maureen at 804-878-3215.

Upcoming Initiatives:

MCRVA Board members will be speaking before Mass on the weekend of June 19th & 20th, and will be available after Mass to speak with. We will also be handing out baby bottles as we begin our Baby Bottle Campaign to support Mary's Choice RVA. Please take a bottle home and return with your donations the weekend of July 10th & 11th. Thank you for your generosity!
