September 26th - October 4th

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of our Diocese, all parishes, schools, and campus ministries are invited to participate in the Octave of Service from September 27th (the feast day of our diocese's patron Saint Vincent de Paul) to October 4th. An Octave of Service is a week-long opportunity to carry out various forms of outreach within a community, all while living out the Gospel values of "encounter" and "accompaniment."

Upcoming Opportunities For You to Participate in Saint Bridget Parish's Octave of Service:

St. Vincent de Paul Society Friends of the Poor Walk: In-Person & Virtual Options

Start the octave of service with the Friends of the Poor walk, on Saturday, September 26th at 11 a.m. Registration for in-person walk participants begins at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (4491 Springfield Road, Glen Allen). If you would like to participate in the walk virually, click here to register.

  • Tips for Registering for the Virtual Walk: Be sure to specify the Richmond diocese when signing up, then click on "Beneficiary" and select "Saint Teresa of Calcutta Richmond" (this is our conference). You can then fill out the rest of the registration.

If you can’t walk virtually or in-person this year, we encourage you to sponsor our Saint Bridget Human Concerns Director, Paul Amrhein, by clicking here.

Blackwell Elementary School Supply Drive

Richmond Public Schools have reconvened virtually, but they need our help in providing for their students! September 26th-October 4th you can donate to Blackwell through our Online Giving page, or by mailing a check with "Blackwell School Supply" in the memo line. If you have any questions, please contact Judy Holzgrefe at

Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day

For some hands-on service we will be building a home with Habitat for Humanity on Friday, October 2nd at 225 N. Ivy near the airport. Come out for a fun day of building and fellowship as we stay socially distant and build a house for a family that would not otherwise be able to afford one. There are only 5 slots avaialble to be within pandemic saftey guidelines, so reserve your spot quickly by contacting Paul Amrhein at or 525-7902. Habitat for Humanity has lots of precautions in place so you can feel relatively safe while on the worksite.
