Children's Religious Education
Saint Bridget Parish is committed to sharing the Gospel message with all people in a faith-filled and age-appropriate way.
Our ministry has its foundation in our Sunday Liturgy and supports the role of the family in fostering their children’s faith. We work to bring about the reign of God through providing opportunities for learning about our Catholic faith, for prayer, for service to others, and for nurturing community among our people.
Children's Religious Education - Pre-K thru 5th Grade
The Saint Bridget Religious Education program is open to all parish children. There are two options for families with children in grades Pre-K thru 5th. Participants may choose between either the Wednesday Afternoon Program which meets weekly from 4:30-5:45 p.m. or the Sunday Afternoon Program which meets weekly from 12:30-1:45 p.m.
There is ample opportunity to volunteer your time with the Saint Bridget Religious Education program, including serving as a catechist, aide or on the Religious Education Committee. To learn more, email Michelle Sesny
The registration deadline has now passed. If you are interested in enrolling your child for a class, please contact Michelle Sesny for availability.
Sacrament Preparation (First Penance and First Holy Communion)
In Holy Communion, the Saint Bridget community celebrates the presence of the Risen Lord in our lives. In the Sacrament of Penance, the community celebrates the forgiving love of God. The church works in partnership with parents and families to prepare children for First Penance and First Holy Communion.
To be eligible for the Sacrament Preparation program, Diocesan guidelines state that children must be attending a Catholic School or a Parish Religious Education program during the year they are attending the Sacrament Preparation program. Children usually prepare for and recieve First Penance and First Holy Communion in the second grade. To learn more, email Michelle Sesny.
Saint Bridget’s Faith Formation is now offering families three ways to prepare children for first reception of the sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion. All of these choices offer a combination of online and in-person learning approaches for both parents and children. Click Here for Frequently Asked Questions.
NOVICE: This is recommended for those who have not yet had the privilege of preparing a child for these first sacramental celebrations or for those who desire a more traditional approach to Sacrament Preparation. Click here for Novice Info
VETERAN: This is an option only for those who have already prepared one or more children for the sacraments of Penance and First Holy Communion and are looking for something to engage the entire family. Click here for Veteran Info
SMALL FAITH GROUPS: This is for those families who wish to build relationships with other families who have children preparing for these sacraments in order to support one another as you live out the promise you made when your child was baptized to be the first and best teachers of your children in the ways of faith. Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses on Sunday mornings
Each Sunday morning, the children of Saint Bridget parish are invited to participate in our Children’s Liturgy of the Word program. Faithfully led by many dedicated volunteers, children from 4 to 7 years of age can participate in the Liturgy of the Word in a sacred and child-friendly atmosphere. During the school year, Children’s Liturgy is offered at both the 9 and 11 o’clock Masses. Separated into groups by age, the children are called to listen to the weekly readings and actively participate in breaking open the word of God.
No registration is necessary. Any children attending Mass are welcome to join the group as they gather at the altar for a blessing before going to Church Hall. Adult volunteers are needed to help teach the lessons. If you have one Sunday morning each month to give to this ministry, please contact Liz Waring. All resources are supplied and training is available.
2018 Vacation Bible School
Last year over 120 children and more than 50 adult and youth volunteers participated in Vacation Bible School. While last year’s event was a huge success, we want to make it even better and that is where you can help! We are currently recruiting a planning committee to help us grow our program. Vacation Bible School is a parish wide event and everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
Vacation Bible School will be held the week of June 25-29th.
