Matrimony
The Sacrament of Matrimony establishes between a man and woman a partnership for their whole life. Matrimony exists for the glory of God, for the good of the couple and for their children.
“I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health; I will love you and honor you all the days of my life!”
The Church expects parishioners to be married in their own parish where they regularly worship and participate in parish life. When an exception is permitted, the Catholic must have a letter from their own pastor granting permission for them to be married outside their parish. And when St. Bridget Parish offers an exception, couples from outside the parish must bring a priest or deacon to witness their marriage.
A wedding reflects the faith of the Church and the faith of the couple. A wedding is a celebration of the Church and of the couple. Weddings are beautiful moments that celebrate the greatest virtue --- love! --- God’s love for us and our love of God.
“May Almighty God, with His word of blessing, unite your hearts in the never ending bond of pure love.”
