Father Stefan has been appointed pastor of Saint Therese in Farmville effective August 1. We are all very grateful to Father Stefan for his wonderful priestly ministry among us and wish him well in his new assignment. Farewell receptions for Father Stefan will be held after all Masses August 8th and 9th. A potluck breakfast reception will be held after 8am Morning Mass on Tuesday, July 28. On Saturday, July 18th, we will have a Reception for Tom following the 5:30 Mass.  Please join us to celebrate his journey to priesthood and to thank him for all of his years of Ministry at Saint Bridget Parish. Tom Lawrence has been a life-long parishioner of Saint Bridget Church. He attended Saint Bridget School and Benedictine High School. Tom has been an active part of the RCIA program and has been instrumental in preparing our teens for Confirmation. In August he will be entering seminary formation in Washington D.C.

Gerry Kaggwa will be here June 27 and 28 to speak about the Diocesan Missionary cooperation weekend and ask for support through  a 2nd collection.   Father Gerry (former Parochial Vicar here at St. Bridget) is Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena in Clarksville, St. Paschal Baylon in South Boston, and Church of the Good Shepherd in South Hill. The distance between parishes is approximately 50 miles. The three cluster parishes are all mission parishes located in areas of Virginia that do not have much industry and have been hit hard by the economic downturn. Announcing Armstrong Academy  A new human concerns initiative supported by the Living Our Mission Diocesan campaign.  Two thirds of the freshmen coming into Armstrong High School in the East end of Richmond are two to three grade levels below where they should be. The academy is seeking to get everyone up to grade level by the time they are sophomores.
