Greetings!
My name is Daniel Harms, I'm the new Director of Youth Ministry and Confirmation here at St. Bridget and if we have not yet met, I look forward to getting to know you and your teens.
The Sacrament of Confirmation, which completes the Sacraments of initiation, is received in 10th grade in the Diocese of Richmond. Information for the 2012-2013 Confirmation program and all registration forms are below. We will have a required informational meeting for both Confirmation candidates and parents on September 9th, after the 5pm Mass.
There are three forms to complete:
Confirmation Registration Form: Due Friday, August 24th
LifeTeen Registration Form: Due Friday, August 24th
Candidate Information Sheet: Due Sunday, September 9th.
Components of the program:
- LifeTeen: A weekly meeting of the teens of the parish (grades 9-12) which provides the foundation upon which your teen will prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Registration cost: $80.
- Small Group Communities: Candidates will meet six times outside of LifeTeen at a host family's house in small group communities to cover the specific Confirmation curriculum set fourth by the diocese.
- Christmas Sharing: Candidates will participate in the St. Bridget Christmas Sharing program where we collect and distribute goods to families in need.
- Confirmation Retreat: A late winter/early spring retreat where we have a ton of fun, dive deep into prayer and the Sacraments, and prepare ourselves to complete our Baptism in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Retreat cost: $100.
As mentioned above, we'll have an informational meeting Sunday September 9th at 6:15pm (after the 5pm Mass) in Mother Presentation Hall. Please plan to attend this meeting (parents and students) in order to receive the information you'll need to participate fully in the preparation for Confirmation.
We are looking for instructors of the small group community meetings and homes to host the meetings in, please let me know if you are interested in helping!
I'm really excited for the program this year! The Sacrament of Confirmation is often seen as "Graduation" from religious ed... but truly, it's just the beginning. This is going to be fun.
