Catholic HEART Workcamp (CHWC) is a year long program in our parish for Seventh graders through Sophomores in college. The focus of CHWC is to grow in faith, service and community. Over the course of the year, we do service projects, share in faith experiences and raise money to go on a one-week mission trip in the summer. All youth are welcome to participate in any and all aspects of the program. Those going on the actual mission trip are encouraged to be involved in youth ministry throughout the year. In doing so, campers will be able to get the most out of the many opportunities provided during their week at CHWC.
St. Bridget also hosts a CHWC camp in Richmond, VA. Parishes from around the country send their adults and youth to St. Bridget to reside for a week. During that week, campers will be doing service projects to help those in need in our own community. Adults and students can get involved in the Richmond camp through a variety of small and large volunteer opportunities. Please contact Patrick Gemmell or Anne-Marie Condlin to find out more about the CHWC Richmond Camp.
This year’s schedule for CHWC can be found on the Youth Ministry page. You will also find applications for students and adults, a description of what to expect, and opportunities to get involved in CHWC and/or the CHWC Richmond Camp.
Interested in Volunteering?
CHWC - If you are an adult and would like to go on a CHWC mission trip, please contact Anne-Marie Condlin. We are always looking for people who can share their skills and faith with our youth. You do not have to have a child in the program to be an adult volunteer.
CHWC Richmond Camp – We are looking for adults to help identify and connect with service providers as we set up our work projects. During the week of CHWC Richmond, we will be looking for set up and clean up help, nursing help, help in the kitchen and help from young adults and adults on the worksites. You can volunteer for an hour or two or even help on a worksite for four days. Please contact Patrick Gemmell or Anne-Marie Condlin if you are interested in getting involved. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the spiritual life of teens around the country while serving those in need right here in our own community.
For more information about CHWC, and for information about how to attend or how to be involved as a volunteer, please see the CHWC section under Youth Ministry.
